Illusion of Gaia

Review:

“Illusion of Gaia” is yet another game in an excellent series, the Enix world-building series.  It is the second game of the series preceded by Soulblazer and followed by Terranigma.

Gameplay is just like Zelda, except that you can transform into three different beings of power throughout the game, though they can only be used in dungeons.  Also, you have the power to move things through telekinesis.  This power can be used anywhere, and often must to further yourself in the game.  You don’t “level up” in this game, but instead, you get a sphere that adds to your attributes when you kill all the enemies in a room.  You learn many different attacks throughout the game for all of your forms, and they must be utilized in many different ways.  You also must collect red gems all during your adventure, and if you get all 50 of them something special might happen…

Music is decent, characters are developed pretty well, not much replay value though (unless you want to collect the gems), and the graphics are good, but they seem sort of blocky.

The plot is that you are the some of a famous adventurer who went to the Tower of Babel with you and his team of adventurers when you were little.  You were the only one to return, and when you did, you found that you had telekinetic powers and with your magical flute, you could move things.

I recommend the game if you like the world-builder series, and I highly recommend it if you plan on playing Soul Blazer and Terranigma. You’ll have some fun with this one.  8/10
