Aol 6.0 Tricks: |
|
| Turn Away Message Off | With this trick you can turn your away message off, First turn on your away message, Type: $away_off in the screen name box, and then press send |
| Weird IM Trick | This trick is pointless, it is an aol glitch where you can send an IM to
$IM_on and it actually sends: Send an IM to $IM_on or $IM_off, The IM will actually send but when you try to send another IM, it will show up twice, pointless but interesting |
| Cheating the Rate Limits | If you have violated the IM rate limits, you can no longer send IM's
without first signing off of AOL, To continue to IM people, you can use the away message and keep changing what you want it to say and hold an annoying conversation this way (it is easier to just sign off and back on) |
| Idling | To idle without getting signed offline in Aol 6.0, Simply turn your away message on, This will let you stay online while idle for a while |
| IM Smiley Trick | This is a pointless trick: Highlight some text in the upper portion of an IM (in the conversation), Go to the smileys and choose a smiley, All the text you selected will be replaced by the smiley |
| Remove Toolbar Items |
Open Aol 6.0, look at the top of the toolbar (you should see "My
Calendar, etc...), Right click the items towards the right of the toolbar, Then select "Remove Item From Toolbar" |
| Adding Toolbar Items |
Open Aol 6.0, look at the top of the toolbar (you should
see a blank space after favorite places), Drag a heart from a place on aol (favorite places heart) to the toolbar and drop the heart in the empty space, Then enter a name and select an icon |
| Toolbar Item - Special Text |
For a cool effect in the text of added toolbar items, Go to the place where you add a new item where you type in the item's name, Type this into the textbox: E G (copy exactly including spaces on either side!) |
| Toolbar Item - Special Text |
For a cool effect in the text of added toolbar items, Go to the place where you add a new item where you type in the item's name, Add a few "control + backspace" () characters before you put a name, this will make the text closer to the icon |
| Note: These tricks are not unique to Aol 6.0 and can also be done in versions 4.0 and 5.0, however, there are more icons in version 6.0 to choose from. | |
