The Hitmen's season 3 regenerations total wasn't just about a record that was shattered in spectacular fashion. It was one element of team success which represented the way the Hitmen nearly ended the Hornets' reign: hard work.

The team's total of 26 regenerations eclipsed the previous record of 21, set by the Hornets in season 1. What was even more astonishing was the way in which the Hitmen gained the 26 regens, with no team member contributing less than 4. The Hitmen's team average of exactly 1 regeneration per last man standing opportunity represents likely the highest rate in league history and is a testament to the consistency and utter output in regenerating players by the Hitmen that season.

The course of the season was set by the team's vocal leader, Nicole Ferry, who stepped up in the first match of the season to record at least a regeneration in all three games against the Arsenal, ending her day with six. Ferry also recorded both game-winners in the match and scored a then-record total of 35 points. After the heroics, Ferry delivered a bravely-worded pep talk to her teammates, telling the rest of the league that the way the Hitmen had played that night is the way every foe would be met with.

From then onward, it was regenerations galore for the eventual Elite Division champions. By midseason, their total was already at an astounding 18. The next three matches were fruitless regen-wise for the team, though this was not a bad omen as they took victory in all of those by 2-0 scores. In the final 2 matches, 8 regenerations were recorded, though the Hitmen were only able to earn a split of the contests.

Their hard work had paid off with not only a second consecutive Elite Division title but also their first-ever regular season championship. The team's fighting vigor must have been drained by a hard-working regular season, however, as the side earned only 2 regens in the playoffs and eventually lost the league final to the Hornets.

Regardless of the final result, the Hitmen's work ethic in season 3 proved that not only teams with talent can be successful but also teams who work hard for each other. 26 regenerations continues to remain a record and a very special mark in the league, one of those few that may not be soon broken. The legacy of the season 3 Hitmen will not be that of a playoff failure but that of one of the best defensive teams ever.
