| Here's all the terms you may have heard but scratched your head about: kill-a throw that hits an opponent without being caught in the air; knocks the hit opponent out of the game catch-a snatch of an opponents' throw before it hits the ground; knocks the throwing opponent out of the game and brings back a teammate who was out dodge-an avoidance of a thrown ball, whether by stepping, jumping, ducking, etc. game-one of at least two and up to three parts of a match; each game is played until one team has fully eliminated the other team match-best two-of-three-games contest between teams; winner receives a win in the league table while the loser receives a loss last man standing-last player remaining for a team in a game regeneration-play in which last man standing brings back player(s) for his side; may be done either through a catch (brings two players back) or a dodge (brings one back) opening rush-play that opens each game; one player for each side lines up on the wall, and at the whistle, rushes forward to grab the ball positioned on the center line game-winner-a kill or catch which eliminates the final opposing player and thus wins a game points-a statistic which can be accumulated through various actions: kills (2 points), catches (3), dodges (1), regenerations (2), opening rush wins (1), and game-winners (3); the DSL leader in points wins the Most Valuable Player award at season's end; this is officially known as performance rating offense-the attack against an opponent; basically, throwing at an opponent defense-backing away from an opponent; basically, catching or dodging opponent's throws |
