DSL Season 5
With the Hornets' monopoly on championships broken, teams sought to usurp other titles that the Hornets had been accustomed to wear. The Bullets became the first Classic Division side other than the Hornets to win the regular season division title, though it would mean little good in the playoffs. The Mobsters and Hitmen fought down to the wire for the overall regular season title, with the Mobsters edging it out on divisional record. The Assassins, supposedly improved, had slumped to a 5-5 final record.

Playoff dodgeball was again the Assassins' spark. They again defeated the Hitmen and then the Mobsters, in that order, to meet the Hornets in the final, who had won two playoff matches themselves to reach that round. Chris Trott and the Hornets were denied a fourth title though, as the Assassins repeated with a 2-0 victory.

On a note about the scoring title in this season, though the Barrage missed the playoffs, Ronald Rupe took home the coveted chalice with 138 points. It was the first-ever scoring title for a player whose team missed the playoffs and the Barrage's second MVP winner; Julia McGlynn did it in season 1.
