History
The terrain of the DSL was greatly transformed Friday evening as four prominent players changed addresses in the trading and free agency period. A recap of the events as they transpired: Ronald Rupe was traded by the Cannons to the Hitmen, Shawn Walling signed with the Cannons, Daniel Engel switched to the Mobsters, and Yolanda Mann joined the Hitmen.

The most important thing to note on these four moves is that the final destinations are all inside the Elite Division. With these teams combining to play six matches between each other this season, there will be some fireworks.

Daniel Engel will have a hard time swallowing the pill that his top spot with the Hitmen has been transferred to Ronald Rupe, and Engel has always had a natural rivalry with Yolanda Mann, who was formerly with the chief rival of the Hitmen, the Assassins. Rupe and Mann are both familiar foes of the Mobsters; Rupe formerly played for the Mobsters in his first two seasons.

Shawn Walling will have his first taste playing in the Elite Division, having been the former captain of the Classic's Enforcers. He's played against the Elite Division in a few all-star games, and the Assassins, Hitmen, and Mobsters will all be very sure to treat him especially well.

Yolanda Mann will see her former team in a different light with the Hitmen. The Assassins have a former Hitmen player, Sara Jeanbaptiste, on their roster, and the meetings of these two could even be more volatile than usual as teammates become rivals.

These are the chief clashes that will be witnessed in the new season. Other plots will develop, too, surely, but these battles will not only decide bragging rights but also playoff positioning in the Elite Division. The odds are immense for every team and their new players.
