The John Pangia Award
   The John Pangia Award was established in 2000 by the
officers of the WAWC. Named in honor of Coach John Pangia,
the Award consists of a commemorative plaque and a fully
paid, $300.00 scholarship to a summer competition wrestling
camp  for  the  award winners. Eligible wrestlers must
compete on the WAWC the  entire Youth Season and be at
least  12 years old. Voted on  by all the  coaches of the
WAWC, the winners are evaluated on their committment,
hard work, dedication and future potential  in the sport
of wrestling. Coach Pangia coached at Wayland from 1992
until 1999. He was Varsity  coach for 6 seasons. He coached
2 LCAA Division 1 Championship teams in 1995, 1997. John
was LCAA coach of the year in 1995. He coached 10 LCAA
Champions and 8 Section 5 Champions as well as Wayland's
1996 State Champion. John was  inducted into the WCCS
Wrestling Hall-of-Fame in 2002.
