Juan Pierre led the charge with 2 hits, and Brad Penny and the bullpen pitched a very gopod game as the Marlins took a 1 game to none lead as they play game 2 sunday Game 2: In a game that was never all that close the Yankees dominated Florida, as Andy Pettite threw a gem, and the Marlins never recovered after a 3-run homer in the 1st inning as New York tied up the series heading back to South Fla. for game 3 Tuesday Game 3: In a game much closer then the score indicated the Yankees led by Derek Jeter, cam back from terrible rain, Josh Beckett, and beat down the Marlins with 4 runs in the 9th to close the door. Mariano Rivera came in and got another save. Bernie Williams set the all-time postseason homruns record with 19 with his 3-run homer in the 9th to seal it. game 4 is Wednesday at the Pro. Game 4: In a furiously crazy game the Yankees stormed back from a 3-1 ninth inning deficit only to lose on a home run by Alex Gonzalez in the 12th of a thriller. Marlins tie the series up. Game 5: In another great one, Penny gets his second win of the series and Wells leaves early with back problems as the Marlins pour it on Yankees relievers, scoring 6 which ended up being just enough as FLA goes for the clicher back in New York Game 6: Marlins win! World Champs! Beckett throws an incredible game as the Florida Marlins score 2 and it was all that Beckett needed even on 3 days rest, as the Marlins somehow win the World Series. Unbelieveable. |

The Marlins are world champions Can you believe it. The pitching gem of a lifetime was thrown by Josh Beckett as he throws a complete game 5 hitter and shuts out the Yankees as the Marlins win their 2nd World Series title in unprecedented fashion. Florida stuns everyone, the Giants, Cubs, and now the Bronx Bombers to corral a world championship ring. Josh Beckett, who else was named MVP, and how fitting was it that he retrieved the final out in tagging a racing Jorge Posada. Who missed a tag earlier on Alex Gonzalez proving to be the winning run, and for insurance the Marlins tacked on an unearned run and the Florida Marlins are World Champions! Let the party begin in South Florida! New York well they face bounding questions as they are thoroughly defeated by Beckett on 3 days rest!, the team that couldn't gather respect, where every win was a shocker, it doesn't matter now. Cause they are victorious and rightfully so. Marlins win in 6 just like the pick. I went on a limb, they won by miles! The team that couldn't do it, the little fish that could, go all the way! Who woulda thunk it? |
