| The Day that History Could Have been Made Triple Torture-with a twist A country ready to celebrate history: left in the dust June 07, 2003 A day ready to be inscribed in sports history. But no, nope it couldn't work that way. Clemens and the Yanks took on the cork batting Sosa and his Cubs and it was a gem until Clemens left and with him left history of Wrigley Field. The bullpen was blasted and Clemens waits again. No biggie though, I mean their were still 2 more events ready to make history, and the Belmont Stakes had special written all over it. Gelding Funny Cide was well thinking big. Thinking pocketing 1 more million in a small field of 6 and with it the 5 million that comes with the Triple Crown. But an early lead tired out Funny Cide and the Derby Darling Empire Maker stole the muddy rainy show. At 8 PM the puck dropped on a game 6 in Disneyland, and the Pond was rocking: but hell New Jersey had the experience they had the confidence and they had it. Damn they were winning the Cup and wouldn't spoil America's fun. But quack quack, the Ducks came out fast and crazy, as they scored 3 goals in the first. And when Karyia was knocked out, so was possible the Ducks only up 3-1. But the so-called Duck got back up and made a day of supposed history go away. Instead he defied what sports brings to the American soul. Power and heart he brought it all and scored to make it 4-1 on a slapper that danced right into the net. Anaheim wins and plays for Lord Stanley's cup on Monday. But more importantly can you say rally monkey? The Ducks, Horses, and Juan Acevedo left you thinking what if, but you know what, what if we weren't even privileged to watch such competition and intrigue on a day that made a splash of it own. History no, special Hell yeah! -sj |
