TAINT FILMS: A LOOK BACK
Taint Films was formed in 1999, when two young hooligans named Scott "traitor" Pewenofkit and Dustin Bacon decided they wanted to make movies. It was simple at first. They had grand ideas. Bursting with creativity, they figured it couldn't be that hard to make a movie. Hollywood cranked out hundreds every year. Yet it became very complicated when they both realized they actually had to work hard to make a movie. So their idea to product ratio was spotty at best. Their first film idea, a slasher flick called "Johnathan" fell apart and the making of this unfinished trainwreck was documented by the Taint crew in a frank documentary entitled "Fiasco: The Musical". Taint Films is still around, although the roster has changed a bit, since one of the founding members (that would be Scott) turned traitor and abandoned the cause. Now the boys soldier on, from one idea to another, learning as they go, slowly becoming film makers. But even more important, they're becoming storytellers. And that's all that really matters, isn't it? No? Hey, fuck you.
IN THE FUCKING CAN
FIASCO! THE MUSICAL (1999) Edited by Dustin Bacon
FIASCO! is a documentary concerning the making of a film that was never finished. Before "Lost in La Mancha", there was us. In early 1999, Scott 'traitor' Pewenofkit and Dustin Bacon wanted to make a psychological horror film about a troubled man who hears voices and is compelled to pedophilia and murder by an imaginary friend. By the end of the year, the film makers were beaten, angry, and at the edge of madness, with only one finsihed scene from a 27 page script in the can. Rather than push on and risk permanent injury, they gave up, and lived to film another day. This is their story. color, 115 min.
DEATH CAR! (2000) Directed by Dustin Bacon
A surreal seven minute short film that apparently involves an alien visitation at the dawn of the new millenium, DEATH CAR! is a brilliant hodge podge of in-camera trickery, bizarre imagery, lots of fake blood, and dark comedy. Notable for the expert use of a keychain laser light as the evidence of the alien presence. color, 7 min.
PIG FUCKER (2000) Directed by Dustin Bacon
A disturbingly funny nonsensical short film about a deranged man who has a sexual relationship with a pig. color, 5 min.
PIG FUCKER (director's cut) (2001)
In the year 2001, Dustin gathered the cast and crew of PIG FUCKER together again to shoot new footage, in order to flesh out the story of the man who loves a pig too much. The new cut of the film takes a darker slant, depicting the Pig Fucker's two room mates desperately trying to stop his inappropriate relationship with his pet pig Petunia, while the Pig Fucker himself sinks deeper into madness, harboring homicidal thoughts against those who would tear their love apart. The definitive cut of the film. color, 23 min.
