The Way I Am

by OG Lois Marie Cueco

I am a very curious person. I never let things slip off my hand without inquiring. Whenever I hold a bag, I always see to it that I know what's inside. I'm too inquisitive that its one reason why other people find me irritating.

One afternoon, I was going out with my Tita to watch a movie we have both waited for so long. Inside, I noticed her bringing a shoulder bag. I wondered why she was bringing one 'cause as I know her, she hated bringing along things in her hand during our usual "laag". And if she did, she'd always ask me to bring it for her. It got into my nerves and I got the bag she was holding. She was hesitant at first but she still gave it to me. I checked out what was so important inside her bag. I saw a big amount of money inside it. She said it was P10,000. It was for her loan in the bank. I didn't know that she withdraw money before she picked me up in the house. The last thing she told me was "G, ayaw pagdinangag!" Guess what happened next. When the movie was over, I saw no bag in my lap, no money, no everything. "Tita, I forgot to tell you, 'dangag' man diay ko".
