Bosconian Trademark

What is really in a Bosconian? It's not just any ordinary thing but a plus factor to our personality. Wonder why? People have known our institution, St. Louis School - Don Bosco, as a place where your mind is trained as your heart and will.

We, Bosconians, have an edge over other students. We can't deny the fact that there's a Bosconian Spirit in us that strongly affects us. We may not be aware of it for now but as we try our luck in the real world, we'll see the difference. The values and lessons instilled in our young minds mold us to determine catholic citizens, and because of that we, Bosconians, excel in every endeavor we take. We're known fighters and learners!

Wait a minute. Do you still see this image among us Bosconians in the new millennium? Are we still strong fighters and eager learners like the Bosconians before? Do we really value what we've learned? And most of all, are we still practicing it? These questions are hard for us to answer now. Most of us haven't appreciated the real essence of being a Bosconian. We're taking it for granted. So what if we're Bosconians?

If we haven't realized it up to now how fortunate we are to be part of the Bosconian family, we'd better open our eyes and heart to this thing pretty soon or else we'll never see what's in store for us. Haven't we realized that Bosconians are privileged to have dedicated mentors who are always willing to help us? They're actually more than teachers to us but also parents and friends. We're learning as one big happy family which makes it easier for us to deal with. Though we have this family-like environment, discipline still plays a vital role in our youth formation. There is a balance in everything we do. There is always a time to learn, a time to play, a time to pray, a time to love, and all the time we need to enjoy. In short, we are well-provided by our school morally, socially, spiritually and intellectually.

The education in SLS-DB isn't just how much we have committed to memory or even how much we know. It's being able to differentiate between what we know and what we don't. It's knowing where to go and to find out what we need to know and it's knowing how to use the information we get. This is what DON BOSCO stressed for the youth - WISDOM or what we commonly call KNOWLEDGE. Making our way towards success would never be that difficult if we have this spirit in us of being a Bosconian. It is indeed one of the stepping stones towards a brighter and better future.

Bosconians, now and then, have this unique bond which unites them and bring them to each other. It seems as if no one could even break this bond. We may not know all Bosconians but if ever our paths cross in town or somewhere else, a smile is all we need to fill in that gap. Acknowledging a fellow Bosconian unconsciously brings a sense of pride within us. We may not understand why but this feeling just spontaneously comes out. It's natural!

What's more significant of being a Bosconian is a life centered in God. We've been taught that if we offer everything we do to God, everything will turn out well. He is our Creator so who else would deserve such gratitude but Him. The high standard of education combined with the Christian teachings really makes a strong foundation in our life. That's why it's not a surprise to produce successful and fulfilled Bosconians all over the world. Our school's guaranteed to produce good leaders as well as good citizens.

It's up for us to prove our worth as Bosconians. It's our pride and joy of a lifetime. Once a Bosconian, always a Bosconian!
