    journal #7!
Another from my bookshelf! And another that left Dryden! LOL!! :D
They don't seem to stay there, but that was my fault, I was on the travelling side of Dryden; Hotels, rest stops, bus stations, and the like. The bus station seemed to be a great release spot, as both of the journals that I've received from there say that it was a perfect time in the journaller's long bus trip to stumble across something good to read.
Over a year later and am slowly hearing back from some releases! I wonder just how many I will eventually hear back from!

    Books Journalled: 6

    What a nice surprise!
I just recieved journal #5, and journal #6 from my little adventure 11 months ago! They are both from an anonymous finder, both on the same day, and both are children's novels that I'm pretty sure I left together, so I'm making the safe assumption that they were both journalled by the same person.
I also noticed today, that there is another new dryden member, but she is not my fault. Someone from Barrie, ON seems to have been releasing in Dryden as well, and has snagged a new member. It will catch on there yet...
If I ever go back, I'll make sure to bring piles of books with me again, and perhaps the success rate will be higher.
I haven't given up hope yet though! Today's journals show that my big release project has not yet been forgotten.
By the way, 'Way to Go Matty!' You seem to have most of the luck with your bookshelf books! I was happy to get one of mine journalled today though. :)

    New Dryden members: 1!

    There's a new Dryden member!!
The member joined on December 11, 2005, and registered a book on that same day! I hadn't thought for a while to 'browse' the Dryden members for any newbs that registered on their own. Did they find one of our releases? Did someone else who did tell them about it? Did I create a buzz? Are they our anonymous finder?

    Perhaps we'll never know....

    Books Journalled: 4

Finally!! I have updated my website, after my files being stuck on my old computer for months!!
Not much new has happened though. So far, 3 of the books have travelled to Thunder Bay, and the 1 caught in Dryden is still an anonymous finder. Matty has 3 catches, Pooker3 has 1, and the rest of us are still waiting.
Never did see anything in the Dryden Observer, but I'll check it every now and again when a new Dryden member shows up!

Well, here's journal #3, journal #4, and a promise to keep the site updated the minute I get another journal! ;)

    Books Journalled: 2

    Journal #2!!
How exciting! So far Matty has all the luck with her books, but I have a feeling more will start showing up soon. No new Dryden members yet though, this one was an Anonymous Finder. Perhaps after he/she reads the book, they will decide to join.
I have also been checking the Dryden Observer website, but they don't have their weekly Saturday issue posted yet. Probably to do with the Thanksgiving holiday, but I'll keep trying :)
You can too! The Dryden Observer I might even make it in there twice!!

What a success!! My girlfriends and I released 58 books on foot! We had to get pretty creative with our release locations too! We were on the wrong side of Dryden to be on foot, but we did okay, and it will be interesting to see where my little bonanza spreads to! We left books at the Greyhound Station, amongst hotel/motel lobbies/parking lots, Tim Hortons bathrooms, Children's organizations, doctors office mailboxes, sidewalk benches, vending machine drop holes, dormant store shopping carts, and we even passed some off by hand. Sadly we were a bit of a far walk from the Big Moose, and the Overpass, but we did pretty good I think.

We had a lot of fun! We even got stopped by the small town Police! I can see why they came over to check us out, (as I was pulling baggies out of my backpack in a well lit parking lot in the middle of the night) and it was quite funny. They asked what we were doing, so I went up to them with a bunch of books and explained all about bookcrossing. The last thing I said was that we just 'leave books around for people to find'. To which the policeman in the passenger seat said "Oh, so you're littering!", and started to get out of the car. I kind of looked at him strange, and the officer in the driver's seat put his hand on the other's arm to stop him and laugh for a second. I told him we were just going to leave some children's books at the children's center we were in front of, and then we would move on, to which he smiled and drove away. :P

After we got back to the hotel, we stayed up late chatting all night, and ended up outside in the beautiful night behind the hotel at three in the morning! Just as we were about to turn in, 3 packed busses made a stopover at the Greyhound station across the street. We were pretty far away, but the bright lights at the station revealed a bunch of books for the passengers, who started passing them around, shopping, and reading as they stretched their legs at the picnic tables! It was super fun to watch, and as my girlfriend announced, we 'felt like the Easter Bunny'! An all around great time.

I just recieved my first journal from my little expedition, and it was one of those perfect catches. Take a look!

    Release Day!! :D October 1, 2005
    Books to release: 58!!

Well!... I'm all pumped and ready to go, but life seems to be going crazy all around me. Sadly, I'm not going to be able to see my husband Tjaiden this weekend. Our car, is stuck in Clearwater Bay, ON at Tjaiden's work site. He was going to drive down to Dryden after his work day, to meet me overnight, help release, and travel back to Winnipeg with me in the morning. *sigh* Buut, the wheel decided to practically fall off, and put a hitch in our plans.
I thought perhaps that I might swindle my boss into stopping along the highway and picking him up on the way, but this morning's news tells me that that wont be the case either. Last night Tjaiden had to take his boss to the hospital with severe neck pains, and is now stuck in Kenora, ON, in his bosses truck, and no way to even get to the highway! And he certainly can't leave poor Scott in his condition!
So, the cards are against us being together until next Wednesday at least. And, I'll have to release all my books on foot, before all of my crew members are ready to hit the road.
Oh dear... Wish me luck!! :)

    Sept 30, 2005
    Books to release: 58!!

Just about ready to go!! Tjaiden is having car troubles in Kenora, and it looks like he wont be able to make it to Dryden with me. That wont stop me though, I'll try to recruit one of the other people that I'm going with into helping me. I just might have to take a few trips ;) 58 books are heavy ya know!!
I met Pooker3 today, who donated 4 books, I read one more, and my dear friend jurraffe gave me a whole bunch! Everything is all ready to go, and I expect that I wont be adding any more to the pile at this point. Off to pack my bags, and get ready for tomorrow! I'm traveling to Dryden in the afternoon, and then at some point between 11pm and 8am, I will be releasing books! :D

    Sept 29, 2005 pm
    Books to release: 39

Well I did it! I finally got the Bonanza page up on my website. And all of my books are packed up and ready to go. Tjaiden and I are staying in Dryden overnight, and are getting up bright and early the morning of Oct 2, 2005 to release like crazy!!

    Sept 29, 2005 am
    Books to release: 39

Oooooh! It's getting close!! I'm so excited!
I just contacted 3 of the 4 existing members that live in Dryden (one doesn't accept PMs), and I invited them to come hunt for books on the morning of the bonanza, and release some of their own. Also, I am planning to spend the next hour or so whipping up a page on my website to keep track of everything. I hope to have it all updated tonight, so that Dryden members can check it out upon receiving my message, or finding thier first bookcrossing book!
I have also read a few more books to release, and have recieved 4 books from Taxingwoman who lives in Hamilton. :)

    Sept 19, 2005
    Books to release: 35

Went to a meet-up last wednesday, and recieved some books from Winnipeg bookcrossers Matty, gypsysmom, and mrsgaskell, to release for my bonanza! Some of the books have even come from other provinces, and will be on thier 4th generation when arriving to Dryden!!

    Sept 12, 2005
    Books to release: 21

    new news:
I went to the library booksale, and got 21 books for 2 bucks! I registered most of them for the bonanza, decorated them with bookcrossing labels, and got them all ready to go!
I have also been contacted by jurraffe, Pooker3, and Taxingwoman, who are going to donate some books as well!
And when I get around to it, I will create a page on my website to track all of the books that I released in Dryden.
I also got Tjaiden (my hubby) on board to drive down to Dryden after work, so that he can help me distribute books on the morning of October 2, 2005. What fun it will be for Dryden to wake up to a whole library of books on Sunday morning! :D

    Sept 9, 2005
    Books to release: 3

day-zee's Dryden Bookcrossing Bonanza! (a bookcrossing project)
*giggles* [this is gonna be fun]

So I'm sitting on my computer one night [surprise, surprise...] thinking about my up-coming overnighter in Dryden, Ontario. And because I was chit-chatting on www.bookcrossing.com [surprise, surprise...] I thought to myself:

'wouldn't it be cool to swap with a bookcrosser from another city?'

So I started a thread to alert bxers from Dryden. [this is it here ] But nobody replied!
So I 'browsed members' from Dryden using the search function, and only found 4!! 2 with 2 books registered each. 2 with nothing at all! None of them active for at least a year. Then the gears started to turn...

'What if I brought bookcrossing to Dryden?, I hear it's a tourist's paradise!'

I am now on a mission. Over the next little while, I'm going to plan my trip [which may even turn out to be longer than an over-nighter if I talk my husband into coming...] to Dryden, contact the Dryden library about a possible OBCZ, collect books from other bookcrossers at meet-ups, contact the 4 existing Dryden BXers, and record my progress here. I will add new threads with dates as the titles and keep you all [and myself--i'm so forgetful] posted on what's happening in

    DAY-ZEE'S DRYDEN BOOKCROSSING BONANZA!

The releasing event will be either the laaaaaate night of October 1, 2005, or the morning of October 2,2005. Please contact me by PM if you would like to help release, or donate books. [if you would like to make a book donation by mail will unfortunately have to be sent express, as I didn't think of it early enough. However, I think I will be able to scrounge up a BUNCH of books in my area! :)]

The thread that started it all!
