RACHEL BANHAM REPORTS. A blend of 90s rock music and the first ever performance in public of an original song have brought Daytura competition success. They played their own composition Bringing Me Down to an appreciative crowd at The Railway pub as part of the Bandwagon contest. "It was good to get people's opinion of that song. It was a very nerve-racking experience for us, head to head with another band, but we enjoyed it," said singer Danny Woollard. Covers by Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics and classics by The Kinks and The Eagles completed Daytura's set. "It gave us an opportunity to play in a good venue with an excellent PA system. We look foward to the next heat. "We are all enjoying playing so much we want to gig more regularly and to eventually have a source of income from music," Danny added. Matt Long, owner of Art Of Noise in Felixstowe Road, Ipswich is the chairman of the Bandwagon judges. "The last time I saw Daytura play was a year ago and I was shocked by the improvement - they've come a long way," he said. "The best band did win." |
