Ernie Irvan is the only driver in this world that can say that he came
back from a wreck so horrible that he was given a 10% chance of� living,
and not only drove a race car again but Won at the track that almost took
his life. August 20, 1994 Ernie blew a tire during practice at Michigan
International Speedway. He hit the wall head on at 170 mph. Doctors at
the scene doubted that Ernie would live until they got him to the hospital.
Two years later after lots of painful rehabilitation Ernie returned to drive
again in Nascar Winston Cup Racing. On June 15 1997 Ernie returned to
Michigan where he almost lost his life and WON. A very emotional victory
for Ernie, his family, Robert Yates race team, and his millions of fans.
