DAYSTAR began in 1985 with the purchase of my first dog, Jestom's Chips First Edition.  I learned to show from Caesar who already knew it all.  He set the hook as I finished and specialed him to several Group wins and placements.  I endeavored to learn all I possibly could about showing and producing good dogs.  I bred only a handful of litters in my first years of showing.

In 1990 I purchased Jan Shar's Ace In The Hole and soon after, Rhea Na's Cruisin' For A Bruisin'.  These boys, bred to quality finished bitches were the early foundation for DAYSTAR.  Since that time I have shown many memorable dogs, worked with several great breeders, endured a few heartbreaks and setbacks, and had countless wonderful experiences.

Today the pace at DAYSTAR has picked up.  I travel more, show more, breed more, etc.  I'm very proud of the DAYSTAR dogs that have stepped into the ring.  I am equally proud of the wonderful DAYSTAR puppies that have gone to loving pet homes on spay and neuter agreements.

My greatest struggle, as one privileged to breed and show Pomeranians, is maintaining the balance between being a show person and providing pet homes.  I try to keep only around 9 adults at my home at one time.  Show puppies I prefer to grow out and evaluate at 6 months or older.  Often they have ring experience and sometimes a championship title.  Thus the purchaser and I can be confident that the puppy is going to finish it's championship.  Pets are equally important.  I want to be sure that they go to mutually compatible homes.

All in all, Poms and the sport of showing dogs has added a wonderful dimension to my life.  If you wish to know more about DAYSTAR, contact me at [email protected]
