Parts of a Paragraph

 

 

                       

Topic Sentence

 

Is the main idea of the paragraph. Indicate to the reader what the paragraph will be about.

 

Supporting Details

 

They come after the topic sentence, making up the body of a paragraph. They give details to develop and support the main idea of the paragraph.

 

Closing Sentence

 

Is the last sentence in a paragraph. It Restate the main idea of the paragraph using different words.

 

 

Kinds of Paragraphs

 

           

Definition paragraph

 

A pest is defined as any animal or plant that damages crops, forests, or property

 

Classification paragraph

 

A Classification paragraph is when you group things or ideas into specific categories for Example a paragraph discussing two types of energy resources. The following words are used to write a classification paragraph: is a kind of, can be divided into, is a type of, belongs to, is a part of, fits into, is grouped with, is related to, is associated with.

 

 

Description paragraph

 

A Description paragraph is when you are writing about what a person, place, or thing is like.  And describe where a place is located, how is the person. The following words are used to write a description paragraph: the properties (size, color, shape), measurement (weight, speed), location (in, below, beside, near).

 

Comparison and Contrast paragraph

A comparison and contrast paragraph is when you write about the similarities and differences between two or more people, places, things, or ideas.

My hometown is a very small town, nothing similar to a big city; it is calls Turmero and it’s located in the Aragua State.

It is measured in terms of such variables things as wind, temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind velocity, barometric pressure, cloudiness, and precipitation. In most places, weather can change from hour-to-hour, day-to-day, and season-to-season. Venezuela for be a country located in the tropic its bigger characteristic for having two seasons: one of rain and other one of drought.

 

Classification paragraph

 

The society is a permanent meeting of people, towns or nations that coexist and are related under common laws; main the characteristic of the society is: it has a ordered form and efficient to renew his own members, it takes care of it socializes, it develops instructs to his members, in his varied economic groups the society it produces and it distributes the goods and services, the political administration and the diverse civic groups satisfy the necessities with order and external security that feel the men; in aim the society exists for the people and who carry out in her certain activities with views to the communal property.

 

Description paragraph

 

The Center of Information and Documentation of the Pedagogic Rural Institute "The Mácaro" is the entity entrusted to receive, classifying and arranging the Works of Degree, bibliographical Material and the periodic publications, to put them at the disposal of the users. The Center has a room of consultation that there is divided in two sections one of them this one endowed with 16 equipments of computation, each of these equipments are placed in individual tables with their respective chairs in order that the users could do investigation or research for Internet; and another room possesses three inns and the shelves where one finds the whole bibliographical collection due classified with the information of the Author, Title, Matter, Level. The consultation room it’s conditioned to the user can have tranquillity and comfort in the moment to investigate, and could be satisfied by the visit to the Center.
