Let us become accustomed to recollect ourselves during the day and in the

course of our duties, by a single look toward God. Let us thus quiet all the

movements of our hearts, as soon as we see them agitated. Let us separate

ourselves from all pleasure which does not come from God. Let us cut off

the futile thoughts and dreams. Let us not speak empty words. Let us seek God…

and we shall find him without fail

-Fenelon

I suspect that a thousand years from now I’ll have a pretty good understanding of

why my life has gone the way it has; for now I’m content to trust that God knows

what he is doing.

-Gary Thomas

The center of our spiritual lives must always rest in God and what he has done.

Not in our experiential faith.

-Gary Thomas – Seeking the face of God

The spiritual fathers taught that true holiness has at its root an overwhelming

passion for the one true and holy God. Not for rules, principles or standards.

“God will not merely judge us on the basis of what we gave but also on the

basis of what we did with what we kept for ourselves.”

~Erwin W. Lutzer, Men of Integrity

“If your treasure is in house and lands and cars and boats and electronic equipment,

where will your heart be? Tell me your checkbook and VISA statement and receipts

for cash expenditures and I’ll tell you where your heart is. Because your heart is

wherever you put your treasures.”

~Randy Alcorn

“Let people feel the weight of who you are, and let them deal with it.”

Brent Curtis (as quoted by John Eldridge)
