It was a dark night
The moon was not there
The stars were dim
The wind was calm
The animals were silent
I heard, in the distance, a shout
Your voice was quiet, yet I could hear
Your eyes were bright, my light to see by
Your voice was calming,
Your breath against my ear,
The heat of your body,
These things told me you were near
I felt shivers as you touched me
My mind was open
My heart was wide
Reaching out,
I clung to you
Trusting.
Your hand grazed my side
Then squeezed,
Holding on to me with all your might
Making me believe the ride would never end.
A kiss, a hug,
No words
You looked in my eyes,
A tear slid down my cheek
And again you hugged me, with all of your might
No matter how old I get...
I will always remember
The first time.
