Midnight -- you said midnight.
Undressed, I count each chime.
Curled between smooth sheets I wait,
Longing to stretch myself beside your hungry frame.
Two a.m. -- you said midnight.
Undressed, I sleep at last,
And dream of making love in
warm and gentle rain,
each drop honey on my tongue.
Six a.m. -- you said midnight.
Dressed, I drink my coffee
and watch the rain
-- cold rain --
abuse the window panes.
