Inside Doubleday Field. |
It was pretty cool looking out over the field where baseball started. If you're a fan of baseball and all of its history and lore, going to Cooperstown is like going to Mecca. If you just appreciate the game with mild interest (like me), its a fun way to spend an afternoon. If you hate baseball, you will be tortured beyond belief - Do Not Come Here! |
| A little-known fact, Cooperstown also holds the record
for most snapshots taken by middle-aged white men in a square mile.

Sammy Sosa display in the Baseball Hall of Fame. |
Inside the Baseball Hall of Fame there is an endless array of historical baseball memorabilia. The most prominent display is the monumental home run race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire a few years ago. |
| I had to wait almost five minutes to get a picture of this, probably the most famous baseball in existence. |

The soon-to-be Red Sox championship display. |
After soaking in the baseball ambiance for a few hours, it was back on the road for me. I got to Albany in the evening and went out to see the town. All I can say is, if you've never been to Albany, you're not missing anything ("Dive" is the word that keeps springing to mind as I am trying to think up words to describe the larger cities in NY state, I wonder why that is?) |
