Story:

A Generations Final Journey. . .Begins

The Romulan senate is collectively murdered and a new leader, a Reman named Shinzon takes over. Cutting the wedding of Counselor Deanna Troi and Commander William Riker short, the crew of the
Enterprise detect positronic signals coming from Kollarus III, which means another android like Lieutenant Commander Data must be down there. Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Lt. Commander Worf, and Lt. Commander Data go down to the surface in the shuttle-vehicle Argo, which is equipped with a Starfleet military jeep. The three recover the pieces of the android on Kollarus III, but they are attacked by a group of Remans driving their own military vehicles. The Enterprise team returns to the ship, and reassembles the android, who is an exact duplicate of Data, except he is much less technologically advanced than Data. His name is B-4.

Meanwhile, Captain Picard is ordered to Romulus by Admiral Kathryn Janeway. The Romulans and the Remans are offering peace to the Federation. Upon their arrival, Shinzon reveals to Picard that he is his clone. Dr. Beverly Crusher eventually confirms this with a sample of Shinzons blood.

Data, with the recommendation of Captain Picard, duplicates his memories and knowledge and transfers the information to B-4. Still, B-4 is a complete dullard.  Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge detects thelaron radiation coming from Shinzons ship - the
Scimitar. The deadly radiations could easily kill the crew of the Enterprise, or the population of an entire planet.

About to express her love physically to Riker, Troi is telepathically raped by Shinzon.

Dr. Crusher learns that Shinzon is dying and the only way for him to survive is with the blood of his host DNA Captain Picard.

Shinzon recovers B-4 from the
Enterprise, who has apparently been reprogrammed by Shinzon on the Remans to gather data about the Enterprise and the Federation. With this information, Shinzon is able to kidnap Captain Picard. Just as Shinzon is about to extract Picards blood, B-4 incapacitates the Reman guard in the medical chamber. It is actually Data in disguise. The two are able to steal a shuttle from the Scimitar and return to the Enterprise.

While aboard the Scimitar, Data learns of Shinzons plan against the Federation. He plans to use the thelaron radiation to kill the people of Earth and shatter the foundation of the Federation. Captain Picard decides that the
Scimitar must be destroyed at any cost.

While passing through a rift in space, the
Enterprise is attacked by the Scimitar. Seriously outmatched, the Enterprise tries anything to fight back. Soon, two Romulan ships de-cloak, trying to stop Shinzon from starting a war between the Romulan Empire and the Federation. The combined forces of the Enterprise and the Romulans arent enough as Shinzon manages to disable the Romulans. In an exchange of fire, the Enterprise bridge suffers a severe hull breach and several crew-members are sucked into space. Remans board the Enterprise looking for
Picard, but they are intercepted by Commander Riker, Lt. Commander Worf and a security party.

With both vessels severely damaged, Picard decides to self-destruct the
Enterprise in the  Scimitars path, but the computer says the self-destruct sequence is off-line. With the phasers at 4%, and the photon torpedoes out of stock, Picard decides to ram the Enterprise into the Scimitar. The damage is extensive. Shinzon decides to use the thelaron radiation weapon on the Enterprise. Picard beams over to stop him, but as soon as hes over there, the transporter goes off-line. Picard is trapped. In a last ditch effort to save Picard, Data dives out of a hull breach in the Enterprise hull and flies over to the Scimitar and breaks in. In a hand to hand duel with Shinzon, Picard kills him. Data finds Picard and slaps an emergency transporter onto his chest. Before Picard can protest, hes already in the beam. Stranded on the Scimitar, Data destroys the weapon, which in turn destroys the Scimitar, which as a result, destroys Data.

As the crew mourns Datas loss, Commander Riker leaves the
Enterprise to take command of the U.S.S. Titan along with new wife Deanna Troi. And as B-4 struggles with his limited abilities, traces of Datas memories begin to shine through in him.

My Review:

Ending the four year gap between Star Trek: Insurrection and this movie, was well worth the wait. What bothers me is that the critics have slashed this movie so much. Sure, sometimes it does steal a bit from previous Star Trek movies, but its pretty entertaining along the way. The battle sequences in this movie surpass the ones in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in my opinion, and the special effects rival those of ILM. Seeing the
Enterprise plow into the Scimitar was one hell of a moment that makes your jaw drop. Great performances by Patrick
Stewart as Picard and Tom Hardy as his nemesis Shinzon. Sometimes in the movie, it seems as though youve seen it before, sometimes it seems its not Star Trek at all, and sometimes its just that damn good. There are some minor plot holes that were probably cut from the films original 3 hour cut, like why Worf is back on the Enterprise and how did Janeway become an admiral. And speaking of Janeway, thats the only scene in Star Trek: Nemesis that rubbed me the wrong way. Why is she here? Why is she an admiral past Picard? Some people will look at this movie and say Star Trek is dead. Maybe so, but I for one hope to see Star Trek XI
become Star Trek: Nemesis II.
