| Rudandi's Weyr | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "How can I tell him I quit?" Ru'di groaned. His weyrmate in the barracks sighed. "Just stop accepting the marks! Send the currier away with them. I think he'd get the picture." Ru'di decided to sleep on it. For the fifth sevenday in a row. It became the tenth, then the twentieth. He was getting used to being paid for doing almost exactly nothing for Lord Holder Spencer. Then, the marks stopped. "Something happened," Ru'di said, looking at his weyrmate. "I feel so completely out of touch with my own home Hold..." One of the felines who still considered him a friend cuddled into his lap, and Krynth gave off a draconic chuffle. I used to be able to do that, he bespoke. "If you did it now, you'd squish me!" Ru'di laughed, and for the moment, felt quite a bit better about his income suddenly dropping! |

| "It wasn't my fault," R'udi said, rubbing his hands on the injured green. "The wherry ran the wrong way..." The green rider glared at him, and he knew that his words fell upon deaf ears. The rider made certain that R'udi's work included helping her in her weyr cleaning up. Which meant that R'udi was literally up to his ears in dragon dung most of his week. Finally, the dragon healed from her embarrassing injury (they had simply crashed into one another, Krynth attempting to take down a wherry going one direction -- and the green coming in the other way). In some way, R'udi was reminded of the days that he kept taking marks from that filthy holder. Those days were so far behind him, it seemed. He'd not forgotten, but he had far more important things to do with his life now, than to take bribes and pretend to be a Lord's pet! I am proud of you, bespoke Krynth. I never like it when you think of that man. He is angry too often and I think you are afraid of him. "I always have been," R'udi said, "but now he'll have good cause to run from me, if I have to chase him! |
