Joe joined the Navy in 1969 for 4 years and he had so many fond memories
of his time with his friends that he made onboard ship.  He served on the
USS Holder for most of his tour and spent the last 4 months on the
USS Austin.  He spent a lot of time on the computer trying to locate lost
shipmates.  Not long before his passing he found the Holder Association
online and that was the beginning of his shortlived connection with former
Navy veterans to swap stories with.
