Joshua Perry & Mary Jane Williamson Stout
Joshua Perry Stout was a rather quiet man by all accounts, well liked by all who knew him. He was a sawyer and a shoemaker, the latter being one of the factors which tie him into the Pursley family. Joshua Perry's mother was Joicey Reid Buckley Stout, granddaughter of Henry C. Buckley of Londonderry Ireland, who was also the grandfather of Jackie Pursley through his mother Nancy Buckley Pursley.
And after Henry was mustered out of the British Army and decided to stay in the States after the Revolutionary War, he made his living as a shoemaker, a trait that was apparently passed down to his great grandson. Josh Perry was born in Mercer Co. Ky and moved here with his parents at age 6 in 1840. When he was 12 years old, his father Ephriam was a candidate for State Legislature Joshua died at his home in Bristletown, Barren Co., on Sunday night November the 13th, 1910 of what was designated to be grippe at the age of 75. He is described as a good christian citizen who had the respect of all of his acquaintances. He is buried at the Stout family cemetery in an unmarked grave.
