Dining

Dining on St. Simons is surely a treat.  Here are a few of our favorites.

Breakfast

Located in the village, Dressner's Village Cafe has a good breakfast

and Island charm.  It's in the village, so get there early.  They also serve lunch and sometimes dinner.

Close to Sea Palms in the Shops of North Frederica, Cafe Frederica is

casual with plenty of variety on the menu.  They serve breakfast and

also lunch (until 2:00).

And breakfast is always available at the Island Waffle House

(it's just different on the island!)

New to the Island is Starbucks, located near the intersection of Frederica and  Demere Road. Also check out Palm Coast Coffee and the Pub Next Door in the Village.

Lunch

There's nothing better than enjoying a cold drink on Brogen's balcony

overlooking the village and pier.  By far our favorite lunch spot, Lynne

recommends the shrimp salad and Jeff recommends the reuben.  Be sure

to get a side of onion rings.  Brogen's North near Sea Palms offers a similar menu.

The Yum Yum Shop in the same shopping area also serves great sandwiches.

We recently enjoyed lunch on the deck of the Coastal Kitchen at the Golden Isles Marina.  This is a very nice restaurant open for lunch and dinner.

We also recommend Mullet Bay, Locos, Beachcomber BBQ, or Jinrights (Brunswick).

Dinner

We have eaten at lots of places on the Island and it's hard to go wrong.

Barbara Jean's gets a lot of votes for some of the best food on the island, especially their crab cakes.  They have enlarged with more room to serve now.

To get the best sunset you need to drive over to Jekyll Island to Latitude 31

at the Jekyll Wharf.  Enjoy a great meal and live music (usually piano) at

J Macs.  Our tried and true favorite is The Crab Trap.  You have to get a

bowl of their crab soup.  Good steaks are available at Bennies Red Barn, and

it's a treat to hear their menu spoken as opposed to looking at it! After hearing several recommendations, we recently tried Cargo Portside Grill on Newcastle Street in Brunswick. The atmosphere and food are great! Don't miss the crab and sweet corn chowder (Lynne's new favorite!). Be sure to make a reservation.

If you are really hungry, check out the Seafood Buffet at the King and Prince on Friday nights.  So much to choose from!

Fairly new to the Island is Bonefish Grill in the Retreat Village.

Other good spots are Georgia Sea Grill, Chelsea, Frederica House, and Blackwater Grill.  And if you want something besides seafood, try Kobe Japanese Steak House, Nazzaro's or Tramcici's for Italian food.

We're still checking out other restaurants and will update you as we can on

"new" favorites!
