Families are complex groups of people.
Thrown together by blood, ultimately by God's divine plan,
and always with love in the end.
Sometimes, families have to grow up and get old together
before they realize how much they really do love each other.
That's what mine did.
Then God took one of us home before any of us were ready to let him go.
Rest in peace, Dave, until we all meet again together.
Forever close to each of us in our hearts,
Never to be forgotten.

Dave's Resting Place

In Memory of David J. Underhill

Beloved Son, Brother and Father

David's remains rest in a niche crypt in Birmingham, AL
in the midst of four Dogwood trees.
Two more dogwoods flank the walkway to the crypt.

Very peaceful site. Lush with white Dogwood blossoms.

One long year later, remembered with 5 roses-
1 for each member of his family: mom, dad, 2 sisters and a brother.
April 5, 2000

Memorial bracelet created by his sisters from his brother's idea,
for each of his immediate family to wear in memory.

On April 1, 1999,
I asked God to take away a deeply troubling cross of mine,
and He did.
But as he closed one door for me,
He gave me another to go through,
one He knew I would have avoided like the plague.
To get through losing David, though, I had to ASK for His help.
Grief is hell in the flesh.
But, God is faithful and always present.
Without faith,
none of this would have been bearable.
God's blessings always to all who seek Him,
as He promised:
"you will seek me and find me
when you seek me with all of your heart!" Jer 29:13
It's all ours for the asking!
