I have been reading articles of the Monkees from many different newspapers from 1980's-1994. I found things very interesting. If you read my bio, you would see that I don't know a whole lot about them. I was very disturbed in one article that I read about a reporter saying that the
Monkees are just entertainers.
I understand that Davy and Mickey Dolenz are the actors; however, the other two members know how to play and sing.
The Monkees were only expose to have been a tv show.
The creator wanted to destroy the Beatles;therefore, it turned out it did, as the Monkess albums sold more albums that the Beatles and Rolling stones combined.
The show had over 500 applicants addition for the show and only Davy jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith won the parts.
So I can see people call them entertiners; however, this
article was talking about one of the reunion tours.
It stated that they could not sing well and that some of the fans didn't know that they were old now.
Well they are actors and were expose to have only been actors, but because of the media and the fame they believed they were a real band and so did we. Why
blame them for that? You would probley have done the same.
For now and Forever we will always make them out to be
"The Monkees" and we don't really care what other people say about them.
That is a true Monkee fan.
The TV show will bring the next generation to love the Monkees, even though there old enough to be our fathers.
To us it doesn't matter, they will still be young in our hearts and as long as we love, care and support them.
I say "Call them entertainers, but to us they will always be the Monkees."
