I like to read books. I like the science fiction and fantasy books the most. Terry Brooks, the writer of the Shannara books and Straken, is an old time favorite. One of the newest is Christopher Paolini, the writer of Eragon and Eldest.
I have over 800 songs on my computer with iTunes and my iPod. Of those about just over 200 are favorites from performers such as ABBA, Air Supply, Eric Clapton, Moody Blues, The Monkees, Shannia Twain, George Strait, Kenny Rogers, Jim Croce, and Meatloaf just to name a few.
I try to get to the local blood bank as much as possible. You never know who you will be helping.
I have been taking food to project S.H.A.R.E. which is the local food bank for Carlisle. I get a kick out their surprise when I walk in with a box of food and they ask me "Is this from your church or workplace?" and I tell them "No, it is from me." I guess they don't that often enough nowadays.
I also like to visit some click-to-donate sites such as Care2.com. I also have contributed to the Royal Flying Doctors Service of Australia, UNICEF, and my local United Way.
I have become a volunteer with the Nature Conservancy in PA and the Cumberland County Red Cross Chapter. I have gone out twice with the Nature Conservancy to clean some land they recently acquired near Kings Gap Enviromental Education Center. With the Red Cross I have volunteered at an event and taken several classses so that I can assist them more. I have been placed on one their Disaster Action Teams. I have also been thinking about contacting the local fire company about being a volunteer. Most of the local of the local fire companies do not have web sites but there is one that I have found to be very good and it offers links to others that have web sites. It is the Union Fire Co. of Carlisle, PA.
I have changed every light that I could in my apartment to compact fluorescent bulbs.
I have voted in the last couple of years in every general election. That way I can sit back and complain about the government. I feel if you do not participate then you have even less reason than I do to complain. Neither one of us may get the one we think is the best for the job but that is the way it works.
For sports teams I like the Pittsburg Steelers and the Pittsburg Penguins. I am not a fanatic that knows every stat. Most times I do not even know where they are in the standings.
Animals that I like are wolves, dolphins, whales, and dogs.
My favorite color is blue and if you would see then you would notice that most of wardrobe is blue.
I enjoy watching the squirels and birds in the back from the kitchen along with the rabbit or chipmunk that hops on through.
