"Fry Girl" was performed by Mark, Eyner, and me the day after Thanksgiving, but the story began well over a month earlier, the night of Priesthood Session of General Conference. Mark, Eyner, Matt Erickson, and I decided to go eat at Jerry's after the session got out, and it was a very different experience for those of us who had never been. You see, it's a fast food restaurant, but everything is made in front of you; at the cash register, you receive a burger token, an empty soda cup, and an empty french fries cup. The burger token is redeemed at one station, where the appropriate burger is made, and the french fries cup is filled at another station. Near the end of our meal, the four of us wondered if we could get refills on the fries. Eyner went and asked the Fry Girl if she could fill his cup, but returned to his seat after she shook her head apologetically. At this point, I told everyone "look guys, I'll show you how it's done" and I proceeded about my plan to get more fries. First, I thoroughly cleaned out the cup, walked out the exit, waited a while before coming back in, then with my empty cup in hand, innocently approached Fry Girl and asked sheepishly and confusedly "excuse me.... is this where I get fries?" My plan worked and I returned victoriously, though our boisterous celebration made her realize that she'd been fooled, and she looked a little put out. Later on, Eyner got her number and Mark paid for the extra french fries we had gotten. Nearly two months later, we tracked her down and performed this song in disguise. I wonder if she recognized us.
