Barber Abt. 1841 in Burke County, Georgia, daughter of Walding Barber.� She was born June 29, 1819 in Burke County, Georgia, and died February 10, 1901 in Emanuel County, Georgia.

Notes from J.P. Rogers, dated October 21, 2002:� According to the 1850 Census for Emanuel County, John Wiggins was a blacksmith.� It is believe that he moved to Emanuel County from Burke County about 1848 or 1849.� We believe his father was Amos Wiggins of Burke County, Georgia.� However, we are lacking conclusive proof at this time.
10 October 1862����� John M. Wiggins enlists in the Confederate Army as a Private with Company A (Burke Guards) of the 3rd Georgia Volunteer Infantry. He is listed as a substitute for Jonathan Lewis. Roll for February 28, 1865, last on file, shows him on detail duty in Quartermaster Dept., Columbus, Georgia, February 28, 1865.
NOTE:� Family tradition holds that after the leaders of his regiment discovered his advanced age (51 at the time of enlistment) and his skill at as blacksmith, John was reassigned to work with the Quartermaster Department.

Found as a child in some records - Eaver Belle Wiggins (female) with a date of birth of December 24, 1883.� However, this is unlikely because none of the children of Lizzie Dalceda Wiggins knew of this child.� Also, George and Loula were married in 1884.

Obituary of Loula Snipes Wiggins from the Swainsboro Forest Blade newspaper:
August 11, 1916
On the evening of July 24, 1916 at 5:30 o'clock death removed from our community Mrs. Lula S. Wiggins, who was in her fifty second year of age, and was one of our dearest and best neighbors and friends.
When God calls his children from earth to a better world above, 'tis an exchange of pain for pleasure and happiness.� How true this must have been of Mrs. Wiggins who had suffered so much, so patiently, awaiting the reward all are to receive who live in submission to Him.� She gave her heart to God when eighteen years old and joined the Baptist church at Swainsboro.� Later she joined the Christian church.� It seemed to be her highest aim on earth to live right, always patient and calm under the trying difficulties we all must face in life.� Her death was a great loss not only to her family, but to the whole community.� A neighbor in need or sickness was always sure of her ever ready helping hand.
Truly this beautiful life of sacrifice and service was not in vain, but will linger in our memory for years to come, inspiring us to live closer to the Father.
In the year of 1884, she was married to Mr. Geo. W. Wiggins who still survives her, also ten children, Mrs. Wiley Braddy, Mrs. Joe Braddy, Mrs. J.W. Davis, J. Gordon, Glenn, Misses Ida, Lizzie, Tiny, Dumpsey and Vera.
The funeral services were conducted in the home at Blun on the afternoon following her death, the Rev. Mimms officiating, but owing to the severity of the weather, the burial was postponed until the next morning. ���������� ����� A friend.

Additional Notes on Loula Mary Snipes Wiggins from J.P. Rogers, dated December 27, 2001:
There are conflicting stories from the Wiggins family about the true identity of Loula's father.� One of the more popular stories is that Loula arrived in Emanuel County as a very young child with her unwed mother, Lizzie Harden.� According to the story, Lizzie later married Milton (aka Melton) Snipes and they had a son, Jim.� Other parts of this family story suggested that Lizzie and Loula came from Wheeler County, Georgia.� However, the census data for Emanuel County in 1880 reveals the following:

Assuming the census worker was given accurate, truthful information, this demonstrates that both Loula and her brother, Jim, were born in South Carolina.
The information provided here implies that Milton and Lizzie met and married in South Carolina.� Based on these birth dates, they would have moved to Georgia after 1868.
With the confirmation of the dates of birth for Milton and Loula, it continues to leave open the question of Milton being the father of Loula.� Based on these dates, Milton, at age 15, would have married Lizzie, at age 20, and immediately fathered a child (Loula).� It certainly is physical possible, but seems unusually for the standard of the times where the norm would have been a 20-year-old man marrying a 15-year-old woman.� This also could explain the lack of any additional information on the whereabouts of Milton in the genealogy of Benjamin Snipes, ie., they had to leave the state due to the "scandalous" nature of this situation.� Of course, this is only my theory.� More research in South Carolina records is needed to attempt to clarify.

Killed in a horse and buggy accident.� According to family lore, after engaging in a heated argument with her husband, Luke, Sarah stormed out of the house and jumped into her buggy.� Driving the horse at top speed, she lost control of the buggy and it overturned killing her.� She was the first person buried in the Wiggins Cemetery in Blun, Georgia.

Eddie Roy Bell, son of Kate Hall Bell, reports that Sallie Wiggins was hot
tempered, got mad with Luke and took off across a field in a horse and wagon
at a very high rate of speed.� She was killed when the wagon overturned.
Buried, Sherrod (sometimes Garbutt) Cemetery, Summertown (Emanuel) GA.
Well, Carol.� You're just a little detective this week!� All this
information coming in so fast on these Rodgers/Wiggins connections.� I
really appreciate all you've done.� And again when you get the right pieces
of the puzzle, it all makes sense.
I think you're right that the land division is for the children of John &
Sarah Wiggins.� Since their daughter Sallie Wiggins Rodgers is deceased, her
children would get her share.� Her daughter Minnie Bishop is named; Clyde
Arnold's mother Luic (and probably father) are apparently deceased, so she
received her mother's share (with her grandfather Luke Rodgers as her
guardian).
I find very few Arnold's in the Cemetery Book and those that are there
appear to be primarily in the extreme eastern part of the county.� Perhaps
Luic and her husband died about the same time and are buried in Jenkins,
Tattnall or another eastern border county.� Or at Wiggins in unmarked
graves.
The Minnie Bishop you found at Bishop Chapel married Noah Bishop.� In the
1900 Census of Emanuel we have Noah Bishop, 36, born Sep 1865; Mamie Bishop,
27, born Dec 1872; John E. Bishop, 2, born Sep 1898; William Bishop, 3 mos,
born Feb 1900.� They lived next door to Luke Rodgers.� At Bishop Chapel is
an N. E. Bishop born Sep 1866; dates a year off but this is probably Noah.
My Cemetery book is the older one so the sons are not yet buried there (if
at all).
Carol wrote "I would guess that the George W. WIGGINS listed is a brother to
Minnie's
mother, Sallie WIGGINS.� He is just 3 years younger than her and buried at
the same cemetery.
The grant mentions "lands of Sarah E. WIGGINS" ... I think Sarah is the
mother of George and Sallie.� She died in Feb 1901; this could represent the
distribution of her estate.� I wonder if the "E" could stand for Edenfield?
Probably not ... I looked at the EGS website and did not find a John M.
Wiggins, husband of Sarah.� What do you think?
�Beats me.� The Cemetery Book doesn't show very many other "E" last names,
does it?� Perhaps she came from Jefferson or Burke County or elsewhere.
