ROOTS AND BRANCHES
(NOTE: This document was originally published in 1990 by Inman Davis. The time capsule was buried in the Wiggins Cemetery in accordance with these instructions.)
One of the activities of the Dave and Lizzie Davis descendants during 1990-1991 will be the sinking of a "TIME CAPSULE". The purpose of this memorandum is to spell out the plans and proposals for that activity.
CONSTRUCTION: The housing will consist of a 7 foot cylinder of PVC pipe with a 10 inch diameter. After being filled it will be sealed and entombed. Each of the seven brothers and sisters will be issued a 12 inch long cylinder of 8 inch diameter PVC pipe to be filled and deposit ed in the major unit.
TIME FRAME:
July 13, 1991: The capsule will be displayed and the seven 8 inch diameter cylinders will be issued to seven brothers and sisters. (The spouse of any deceased brother or sister will be the alternate to receive this cylinder
Thanksgiving, 1991: The seven components will be deposited in the 8apsule which will then be sealed and entombed at the WigginsCemetery at Blun. (Hopefully, every family descendent will be present for this event.)
Family Re-union in the year 2016: All descendents will assemble and the capsule will be opened. The group will view the contents and decide on the disposition of the items. (Hopefully, they will decide to add to the contents and sink the capsule for another significant period of time.)
GOVERNANCE: The Inman Davis family will supervise the project through the entombment process. The Governance group for the WigginsCemetery will be asked to "guard" the facility as custodians until the Family Re-union date in the year 2016. The surviving members of the original seven brothers and sisters will supervise and manage the opening of the capsule. However, if none of the original brothers and sisters are living at time, the oldest descendent from each of the families of the original even brothers and sisters will serve as the committee to supervise the opening of the capsule.
RATIONALE FOR THE 2016 DATE: Dave L. Davis and Lizzie Wiggins got married in 1916, so this will be the 100th Anniversary of that event.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For more instructions please contact Dwight Davis or Inman Davis.
