This indenture made this sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and forty nine  between John Wiggins of the County of Burke & State a foresaid of the one part and Ambrose R. Wright of the County of Jefferson and State aforesaid of the other part.� Witnesseth that the said John Wiggins hath this day made and delivered to the said Ambrose R. Wright his certain promise (ifsosy hath see bargained) his hand and (bearing) even at (at with) these presents, whereby, the said John Wiggins hath promised to pay the said Ambrose R. Wright or bearer the sum of Fifty Dollars one day after the date of said note aforesaid for value received, (norv) for and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar by the said Ambrose R. Wright to the said John Wiggins in hand paid at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well as for the better securing of payment of the aforsesaid promissory note, the said John Wiggins hath granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant bargain and sell unto the said Ambrose R. Wright his heirs and (assignees) all that tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Burke and State aforesaid containing Fifty-Seven Acres more or less adjoining Lands of Daniel White, Jefferson Roberts and (Ethalinla) Fountain with all and singular rights member, and (apprenticed) to said Lot of Land in any wise (appertining) or belonging; To Have and to hold the said for gained premises to the said Ambrose R. Wright his heirs and (assignees) to his and their own proper use benefit and (be hoof) forever and the said John Wiggins for himself his heirs executors administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Ambrose R. Wright will warrant and forever (defend) against the claims of himself and his heirs and against the claims of all other persons whatever: Provided nevertheless that if the said John Wiggins will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Ambrose R. Wright his heirs and assignees the aforementioned Sum of Fifty Dollars on the day and time mentioned and appointed for the payment thereof in the said promissory note mentioned with lawful interest for the same, according to the term of said note their and from thenceforth as well this present indenture, and the right to the property conveyed as the said promissory note shall cease determine and be void to all intents and promises.
