BIOGRAPHIES

Albert KNOTTS: Albert and wife Susi, have lived in Brandon, Fl., a suburb of Tampa for about 5 years. Prior to that they were residents of Halifax, MA, south of Boston, and near Plymouth. 

Shirely Warner COLE: Shirley attended school in Davis until her eleventh grade, then finished her senior year in OH. She is married her husband of 50 years in Jan. of her senior year, who was drafted into the army. After graduation, she joined him in UT. They have four children, two boys, and two girls, who are a Baptist minister, a heavy equipment operator, a chemist, and a phlebotomist. Her husband is a retired mechanical engineer, and Shirley is a bookkeeper, and still doing it for her church.  Shirley died in Sept. 2006. No obituary appeared in local newspapers.

Jacque PARSONS: Jacque "Jack" Parsons of Sherwood died at a local hospital following a sudden illness. Jack was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Canaan Valley, the son of Cecil and Sadie Virginia (Cooper) Parsons. Jack was raised and educated in West Virginia receiving his B.S. Degree in Horticulture from West Virginia University, and a M.S. in Horticulture form the University of Maryland. He was employed by Oregon State University as an extension agent for 25 years.  He helped promote innovative production on fruits and vegetables.  After retiring from O.S.U. he farmed successfully throughout the tri-county area to supply roadside fruit stands. Jack enjoyed his grandchildren, travel, classic western movies and following developments on horticulture.  He enjoyed his vacation home in Astorai, where he watched ships come into the harbor. He married Jennifer Newth in West Linn, Ore., on Sept. 23, 2003. He is survived by his wife Jennifer of Sherwood, Ore.; his mother Virginia of Canaan Valley; a sister Sharon also of Canaan Valley; sons Michael & wife Marte of Portland, Ore., Timothy and wife Leticia of Dayton, Ore., Douglas and wife Kim of Halethorpe, Md., Cliff and wife Cheryl of Canby; the mother of his sons Judy Parrack Parsons; step-sons Marshall Martell, Jacob Curtis and step-daughter, Jenessa Roberti; and seven grandchildren.  Memorial services were held on Monday, Jan. 15, at the Sherwood United Methodist Church 22280 SW Washington St., Sherwood, Ore.  Those who wish may send memorials in his memory to the National Federation for the Blind directly or thorugh the funeral home.  Alternative Burial & Cremation of Oregon PO Box #202 Sherwood, Ore.  97140.  There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at Buena Chapel in Canaan Valley.  (Parsons Advocate 24 Jan 2007)

Sandra Jean ROBY: Sandra Jean Brooke, 72, of Davis, passed away June 9, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born Oct. 15, 1935, at Davis, a daughter of the late Frank Melvin and Alice Adele Shreve Roby.She is survived by three sons, Frank Robert Brooke of Benbush, Phillip Gregory Brooke of Front Royal, Va., and William Russell Brooke of Davis; one daughter, Cheryl Jean Hopson of Charles Town; one brother, William Frank Roby of Oakland, Md.; and seven grandchildren, Faith Adele, Aubrey Dean, Julia Dorthea, Amy, Troy, Andrew and Joseph. Sandra was employed as an auditor for Blackwater Falls State Park. She was a life-long member of the Davis United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge #274, Fraternal Order of Eagles #936 Ladies Auxiliary and Tucker County Senior Citizens. She served as secretary for the Davis School Reunion and she played piano for Tucker County Chorus, St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the Davis United Methodist Church. She was an avid sports enthusiast and season ticket holder for West Virginia University football games. Sandra also enjoyed attending rock and roll concerts. Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral home on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 11 at Davis United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  (Parsons Advocate 11 Jun 2008)
