Margaret BURLEY: Margaret Dean Phillips, 97, of Petersburg, died Sunday, May 4 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born Aug. 8, 1910 in Tucker County, and was the daughter of the late Charles Frank "Doc" Burley and Mary Ella Bertha (Hendrickson) Burley. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Phillips on Nov. 14, 1999; a son Allen Phillips; three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Phillips graduated from Davis High School in 1929. She and her late husband managed the Coffman Fisher Company in Petersburg for over 40 years. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a charter member, a life member and past matron of the Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker, a member of the Busy CEOS and the MM Red Hat Society. Surviving are one son Harry Dean Phillips and wife Dorothy of Martinsburg; two daughters Ruth P. Wilson and husband Bill of Magnolia, Texas and Nan P. Kesner and husband Buddy of Petersburg; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg with Rev. William Haynes Jr. Officiating. Also including will be a service conducted by the Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of the Eastern Star. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church, 102 North Main Street, Petersburg, WV 26847 or Grant County Nursing Home, 27 Early Avenue, Petersburg, WV 26847. Margjorie Marie Good MCDOWELL-formerly of Davis, d. 20 Feb 2002, Elkins, WV. She m. Orie Carter MCDOWELL, who preceded her in death on 2 Dec 1997. She is survived by a son and a daughter, six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker, a member of Walter Chapter 430ES, and a member of Davis United Methodist Church. Burial was in Davis Cemetery.
