The Davion Brigade of Guards, often refered to as the Royal Brigade, has been the backbone of the Federated Suns military for centuries. Once nothing more than the personal guard for the Davion family, the Royal Brigade gained prominence during Reynard Davion's reign as the president of the Federated Suns. Since that time the Brigade has grown to eight full Regimantal Combat Teams and has fought in every major military action the Federated Suns has fought. The Heavy Guards have been the "workhorse" unit in the Brigade since its inception, serving the Davion family with pride and honor. This dedication was seen when the Clans attacked the periphery edges of the old Lyran Commonwealth. Thought the Heavy Guards were severly damaged in the opening waves of the Clan attacks, they gave a good accounting of themselves and even managed to caputure several of the Clans priceless machines. With the winning of a 15 year truce by the Comguards, the Heavy Guards returned to New Avalon to rebuild, learn, and prepare for the time when their Prince asked them to take the fight back to the Clans. The call to arms came in the preparation for Operation Bulldog. The Heavy Guards were one of the few units honored to participate in the diversion raids, Operation Bird Dog, which was to gather vital intelligence and keep the Clans of balence. With the overwealming success of Operation Bulldog, which almost completely ended the Clan threat, the Heavy Guards once more returned to New Avalon to rebuild. But a new threat was threatening to tear the Federated Commonwealth apart, but this time from within. Katherine Steiner Davion has illegally siezed the throne of the Federated Commonwealth and Victor was now without a home. We have voiced our disapproval and in turn been removed from our home of New Avalon where we had protected the Prince since our formation. We have been placed on Galax, to protect that which was already protected, and abandon. But our Prince called us to arms to right what was wrong. We ensured the flow of vital transportation assets being built at Galax to Allied forces. Finally we were called to arms and met Prince Victor on New Avalon to finally defeat Katherine the Usurper. The Guards fought hard and were almost destroyed when three Loyalist RCT's attcked them in a last ditch effort to destroy the famous brigade. The Heavy Guards survived, but they were a shell of their former selves. Now that the civil war is over we are quickly rebuilding. Many battle hardended veterans are returning to service and our ranks are swelling. Now we will rally behind Princess Yvonne Davion and rebuild our shattered realm. God save the Federated Suns and long live the Princess! |
