| HAZEL SARGENT |
| Hazel Sargent, passed away July 5, 2005 at the age of 94. Hazel was involved with the Daviess County Fair many stages of her life. She usually exhibited one of her quilts and some baked goodies, worked on a committee, or just helped when needed. As a young parent with students involved with the band, she worked as a band parent at the Elnora Band (food) stand making many gallons of home made ice cream and baked cakes to be sold. She had many funny stories about her involvement there. The Elnora Methodist Church has a food stand also and of course Hazel was there with her pies, cakes and anything else they made for the stand. As a Grandmother some of the Grandchildren would stay fair week with her. One year, 2 Granddaughters entered seven varieties of cookies that were baked in Hazel's kitchen with great effort and guidance. They remember that they got to spend all of their prize money on the nidway. And finally in the later years, she would love to sit in a lawn chair and visit with friends and former students who attended with their families. The Fair was somthing she looked forward to at all stages of her life. |
