| PROSPECTIVE MEMBER INFORMATION |
| The main rule we have is that at our official functions you wear a our 'colors' which are a Red hat (or large red head covering of some type such as a bow, flower or even a feather) and purple clothing if you are over 50. (I do have loaner hats and scarves for new members or visitors if needed). You wear a Pink Hat and lavender/violet clothing if you are under 50. On your birthday your wear opposite colors so everyone knows this is your big day! I've also instituted a policy that if you are a Queen or 80 years young or older, you pay no dues . |
| Dues are $15 a year which includes your name tag and some goodies. I will also add your name to our Chapter's Official Roster at Hatquarters and create a Red Hat Webpage of your own on this site (with your help and permission). |
| I have adopted some of the Queens Board Rules of Ettiquette for our chapter, along with some common sense rules of my own: Any type of "home party" where you gain something from it whether it be free merchandise or monetary reward must go through me and if approved will be sent out under "not a Red Hat event" (this includes selling items to our membership as a whole without my permission). If there is a "deal" you would like to share with our girls please ask me first. Please do not copy our members email list (however obtained). The members gave their emails to me and some do not wish to receive unsolicited emails, and regard this as spam. Please respect their privacy. If you would like someone's email ask them directly for it. If something happens to spoil your fun, please come to me with it first, whether it be another member or someone at an activity we are having. If I don't know there is a problem, it can't be fixed. Also, others did not come to a function to be made uncomfortable - and neither did you! I'd also like to request that everyone refrain from inflammatory or passionate topics of conversation or emails such as who has the best religion or political party. We are here to have fun and not to debate or upset anyone. Everyone is curious about the Red Hat Groups and I'm open to visitors at almost every function we have. I do ask that you as a guest do not surprise me with a visit however or bring a guest once you are a member without consulting me first. A lot of our functions are by reservation or you have to pre-pay in advance; (Some events are non-refundable, such as Theater Plays, so be sure you can come before you send money for those - I will attempt to sell your ticket for you to the group if I have enough notice or you can just donate your ticket if you prefer). You do not have to pay dues at your first meeting. This way you can decide if you like us as a group and vice-versa. So far no one has left their first meeting without joining... I give all prospective memebers a telephone interview so you know what to expect and what I expect from you. Mostly I want everyone to have a good time and leave looking forward to coming again. I have been so blessed with a wonderful group of happy, fun-loving women and I am very protective of them and the warmth that is felt by all in our group. All members are encouraged to suggest new and interesting ideas and places to have activities. We are a diversified group and you are not expected to come to every event. Usually I send out an email to solicit what interest there is for an activity. If you do not wish to come you do not need to reply to this inquiry. About a week before the event I will send out a reminder email to confirm you are on the list to go. For those without email access, you will be assigned a "telephone buddy" who will keep you informed of anything new. I also keep a calendar of events online that you can check from time to time. Our Links page on this website will direct you to this calendar. Anytime you see the Davie Hurricane Hatter Logo, clicking on it will take you back to the Links Page. We do not have "official" meetings at one location or another so our chapter is "borderless" meaning you can come from any city and do not have to live in Davie to be a member. Most of our get togethers are in Davie, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Plantation, Weston and Sunrise, although we are open to travel anywhere nearby. I would never knowingly break any of the HatQuarters Rules and Regulations. You must go to the Official RHS website for Official Red Hat Copyright purchases or to sign up for their Purple Perks Card, etc. Contact me if you require any additional information. To my knowledge you do not have to purchase a Purple Perks card to be a member of the society if you belong to an "official chartered group" which we are. The Purple Perks Card is a promition by the Society which offers dicounts and can be purchased directly from them. Once dues are paid I will sign you up on the Davie Hurricane Hatters Roster as a Registered member of our chapter. Other than being a paid chapter of the Society I have no other affiliation with them nor do I represent their stores or merchandise. | If you'd like to pick a Red Hat "nick-name", let Susie know and she will put it on your individual webpage. Please inquire to see if the title you have chosen is already taken in our group. We are not formal with them and they are just for fun. |
