Our First Baby

My wife informed me on June 17th
that I was going to be a father.
It's a strange feeling being told that you
are going to be responsible for another
persons well being.  I was excited and
nervous all at the same time.  I'm one
of those people that like to plan ahead,
and this was certainly not planned,
although long over due. Another thing
I found out is that they have all kinds
of books for expecting mothers and
they go into detail about biological
changes and what to expect.  But
what about the fathers?  I mean
now I find myself watching the
Discovery Health Channel,
and crying every time a baby
is born.  What's up with that?
I have cried more since June
17th than I have in the Last
30 years. Ok well that's enough
about me, I will be listing updates
on the baby as they come in.
We both would like to have
a boy (Because a girl would
put me in an early grave) and if
we do have a boy we have
picked out the name
Tristen Davis.  Now is
that a good name or what.

Going for Ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby.

They said that it was going to be a little girl.  How they were able to tell that from the bottom left picture I will never know.  The top left picture is a profile picture.  She's got a big head just like her daddy.

28
Took her to her first UT football game.  She listened as UT stomped Rutgers in Knoxville.

Ok still no baby.  The doc tells us any day.  He said that he would make us an appointment for the next week to keep for jinxing up but says we will never make it.

10
Ok we made the next doc appointment still no baby.  Tania is in misery.  We get sent to the hospital and get monitored for about 2 hours before heading home.

11
Due Date.  Still no baby.  I think she's stubborn like her mother and just doesn't want to come out.  Maybe she's shy.

14
Dr. appointment.  They told us if she hasn't delivered by today to come back.  They said that if the baby wasn't here by Monday the 17th then they would talk about inducing labor.

14
Well guess what, the baby was born today.  He (and yes I said He) was born at 9:58 pm on Feb. 14th.  Tania had a bit of a rough time.   She started pushing at about 2 pm.  We could see the head by 3 pm.   Finally  after several hours of pushing the Dr. brought out the forcepts and pulled him out.  He weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce and was 21 inches long.  So we named him Tristen Davis.  He is such a cutie.  Anyway just goes to show that the ultrasound people aren't always right.
