Have you ever had what you thought was a good idea, but never dreamed it would be a 7 month project..John Reid a very dear and GOOD friend of mine was building a 48 Ford Pick-up and one night standing in his garage looking at my car and his truck we decided his truck would really look GREAT with my cars front end on it. The rest is HISTORY.
John has worked with fiberglass since he was 15 years old, and now works in a model shop. Here he's just making a mold of the trunk and getting started and I did all of the dummy work..
Front end, door opening and windshield.
Notice moldeling clay in all the cracks so the mold will not get locked on the car.
Mold done on the car, and a frame made to hold the mold from warping or moving when making a part. Notice the painted area above the wheel openings. Thats because we opened these up some on the mold for greater tire clearance, and more attractive wheel openings. Car doesn't look like its taking a dump then.
Car with the mold off and the front sitting in front of John's 48 pick-up. See John Reid under friends rides for more pictures of the truck. Along with his Stretched 32 pick-up.
Yes, thats me about 10 years ago (not bad for 50) standing beside the mold of the car. A far cry from the guy in the picture by the 48 chevy sedan at 17.
