RENAL CALCIFICATION

diffuse medullary calcification (nephrocalcinosis):

primary hyperparathyroidism

any other cause of persistent hypercalciuria, eg. sarcoidosis, idiopathic hypercalciuria

distal renal tubular acidosis, eg. in Fanconi's syndrome [due to alkaline urine]

medullary sponge kidney

cortical calcification [rarer]:

acute cortical necrosis

chronic GN

chronic transplant rejection

dystrophic calcification:

renal tumours with calcification

renal tuberculosis

nephrolithiasis:

staghorn calculus

single or multiple stones (pelvicalyceal regions)
