especially Aspergillus fumigatus [allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis; eosinophils and IgE both very raised]

parasites [eosinophils raised, IgE very raised]:

Ascaris

Strongyloides

Schistosoma

Filaria

Ankylostoma

Toxocara

vasculitis:

polyarteritis nodosa and Churg-Strauss syndrome

Wegener's granulomatosis

drugs (hypersensitivity):

sulphonamides

tetracyclines

nitrofurantoin

NSAIDs

PAS

Spanish toxic oil syndrome

other:

cryptogenic pulmonary eosinophilia ('chronic eosinophilic pneumonia') [eosinophils very raised, IgE normal or slightly raised]

hypereosinophilic syndrome [very high eosinophil count; considered to be a myeloproliferative disorder]
