MONONEURITIS MULTIPLEX

vasculopathy:

diabetes mellitus (usually causes peripheral neuropathy)

polyarteritis nodosa and Churg-Strauss syndrome

collagen diseases, eg. rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus

malignancy (paraneoplastic syndrome)

'isolated' peripheral nerve vasculitis

cryoglobulinaemia

essential polycythaemia

infection/inflammation:

leprosy (commonest cause world-wide)

Lyme disease

AIDS

sarcoidosis

'immune':

chronic inflammatory polyradiculoneuropathy

hereditary:

hereditary pressure-sensitive neuropathy

Tangier disease

pressure or infiltration at multiple sites:

lymphoma

leukaemia

metastatic carcinoma
