HYPOPARATHYROIDISM

following partial thyroidectomy (transient)

following removal of parathyroid adenoma (transient)

following parathyroidectomy (during complete thyroidectomy)

pseudohypoparathyroidism [short 4th/5th metacarpals, basal ganglia calcification and typical phenotype; raised PTH due to receptor / post-receptor tissue defect]

pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism [as above but with normal biochemistry]

infant born to hypocalcaemic / hyperparathyroid mother, or if premature

Di George's syndrome [thymic + parathyroid aplasia]

idiopathic ('autoimmune')
