in a non-diabetic:

insulinoma

retroperitoneal sarcoma

glycogen storage diseases

excess alcohol intake

liver failure

hypopituitarism or Addison's disease

any large / fast-growing tumour

paediatric causes:

glycogen storage diseases

ketotic hypoglycaemia

galactosemia

hereditary fructose intolerance

tyrosinosis

maple syrup urine disease

nesidioblastosis [hypertrophy of pancreatic b -cells]
