Mery Christmas?

It is usually not my method of "doing business" to provide an explanation of any art- work I have on the site, but this picture in particular has raised the  ire of some people.

At first glance the picture is I admit, not terribly complimentary to either Jesus Christ or Santa Claus, but allow me to explain the logic behind the picture.

The whole purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the son of God.  Even though this is the whole "purpose " of the holiday one never sees or hears any mention of Jesus, or his birth during the holiday.  Apparently it infringes on someone's religious beliefs. So in lieu of Jesus we have Santa Claus who offends no specific religious group, and has come to represent the reason for the Christmas holiday (if we believe what media and advertising have to say about it).  If we play this scenario of Santa Claus in place of Jesus out to its completion we see the image that I drew above.  It's not meant to offend anyone, but rather it is meant to make us think about the real reason for Christmas.

Hopefully this clarifies any issues that may have arisen from the picture. If you have any questions or comments, let me know.
