The Fields of Forever
The news said it all:
"The East had attacked"
We ran to our backyard
to our shelter
beneath the ground
Locked up for twenty years

The food grown in tanks:
fish, mold, strawberries
We put in our backyard
all of the waste
from our bodies
Compost on the surface

The clock struck midnight
freedom from this jail
We climbed to the backyard
The strawberries
covered the fields
Going on forever
