The Darkness -- Pretty Girl

Pretty Girl

I am not a pretty girl, but I am just
As good as any you could get.
I am not a suicidal, but that doesn't mean
I don't think about death and a way out.
I am not perfect, but I could love you as well
And better than the rest.
I am not angry.
I am not helpless.
I am loving.
I am faithful.
I am a sinner, but that does not lessen my belief in a creator.

I am not a pretty girl.
I never pretended to be one.
My hate is well earned and one lesson you don't want to learn.
I am no Jesus.
I am no God.
I am a believer; I will not crawl.
I am a shadow, but the sun never comes.
Don't throw the light on, you'll scare me off.

I am an innocent, but don't you dare hurt me.
I am that moment when you almost understand the meaning.
I am the color of the sky when it turns an unbelievable blue.
I am the dolphin reaching for the sky.
But I am not a pretty girl.

I am a lover, not a fighter.
I can fight if you push.
Do you want me to believe, because I will if you want me to.

I am not a damsel in distress, but I do need a hand.
I am stubborn and full of faults.
I am not beautiful.
But I am.

this was by one of my close friends who attends my school. she had it published in our
school art and literary magazine Lionize, which happens to circle the Country.
