These pictures were taken in 1988 in Birzebuggia. The statue of St. Peter was carried out of the Church and throughout the town. It then made a journey on a boat from one harbour to the next finally returning to the church. The statue will remain there until the following year.
Malta is reknowned for their firework displays. Some fireworks are mounted to spinning structures.
Afterward, rockets are sent into the night sky. If someone is killed during the preparations of the town's feast celebrations, then the fireworks are not lit in respect for the deceased and his/her family. Instead they are kept for the following year. |
