The answer appears to be that it is inspired, at least in part, by particular Jewish prayers and meditational exercises. (Yes because meditation is concentrated prayer, and real prayer means we have to banish the evil forces that cause distraction and center ONLY on the Lord if we are to get through...so of course, the banishment came from the Judaism and from the Bible) The attributes listed in the so-called 'Qabbalistic Cross' comes from Psalm 99, verse 5, and are part of the Shachrit -morning- Torah service. (The Torah just meaning the first five books of the Bible, which are scriptures for us Christians as well) ''Deletion" because the order is changed, and we have to add a blessing and direction " the LBRP does not bless the Divine, while the Jewish service does." And we are Christians and ONLY love the King of Kings and will not pray to any other spirit other than Him.) (In another slighly different version, we could say with a full heart the following with FAITH as it is also scripturial ...... ) "In the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, (we adding the addition of the Name, Jesus, or Yeshuah, ...because we know the name of the Lord of Lords) may Michael be at my right hand; Gabriel at my left; before me Uriel; behind me Raphael; and above my head the divine presence -literally the. Shekhinah of God." "Shema Yisrael, Adonail Elohenu, Adonai Achad. Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One...Go since the Lord sends thee; go, and the Lord will be with thee; the Lord God is with him and he will ascend." "May the Lord Bless thee and keep thee; May the Lord let his countenance shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; May the Lord lift up his countenance upon the, and give the peace." "At thy right hand is Michael, at thy left is Gabriel, before thee is Uriel, behind thee is Raphel, and above thy head is the divine presence of God. The angel of the Lord encampeth around them that fear Him, and He delivereth them. Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee, withersoever thou goest." So are there absolutely right words that must be spoken. NO !! Our prayer is only as strong as our Faith, and the Lord hears our hearts cry and our sincerity. Is it beneficial to concentrate and banish errant thoughts and spirits before praying ? I would say YES. Is it all right to use gestures of our hands, in showing the cross of Christ before we pray. SURE !!! if we know it is the Lord we are praying to, or if we know that a pentagram or phi is not inherrantly evil. Can this ritual or ceremony work, of course it can, because evil forces and spirits do want to interupt and disconnect us from our Lord. Is there a literal force field shield that is erected when we create such a barrier. I would say YES, absolutely. Banishing evil spirits is helpful, even if we pray in our rectangular closets rather than in His Creation in a sacred Circle. None of these things, whether shapes or location, or words, or even spirits can stop us from connecting up with OUR GOD, as long as we know his Name is JESUS, the One and ONLY Son of God.
